“Crazy Train” Ozzy Osbourne Piano Cover by Gamazda—Video of the Week 11/16/20

by | Nov 16, 2020 | Video Of The Week

If you’ve been following our selections for Video of the Week, you may have noticed a recurring trend. We believe that it’s important to celebrate and encourage our youth to be playing musical instruments, so we’ll often feature shining examples of talented youngsters. This week, we continue that trend with a young lady from Russia known as Gamazda.

Born Alexandra Kuznetsova in Moscow to a musical family, Gamazda started to learn how to play piano at the tender age of 3. She later went to school at the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory and graduated with honors in 2014. Today she hosts a YouTube channel with over 350 thousand subscribers.

Like many of today’s youth that we’ve come across, Gamazda focuses on rock covers that most people know and love. But many weren’t originally meant for piano performances, so she has the opportunity to reinvent these well-known songs and make them her own. She also puts a lot of care into making quality videos—with obvious help from a roaming cameraman.

This ambitious girl has tackled some tunes that even seasoned musicians wouldn’t mess with. You’d never think it, but AC/DC’s 1980 title track from Back In Black sounds wonderful on piano, Metallica’s “One” even more haunting than the original, and System Of A Down’s “Aerials” a treat by the fireplace.

For our pick this week, we selected the Ozzy Osbourne classic “Crazy Train,” not only because it’s one of the most popular songs that she’s chosen to cover, but also because she shreds Randy Rhoads’ gultar solo better than many can do on the axe. Watch below, and share share share!
